SUMMER SOLSTICE

Piano meets Didgeridoo, a unique first time performance by Sophie Moleta and Wild Marmalade didgeridoo player Si Mullumby.

Join us as we take you on an experiential sound journey over the exact time of the Summer Solstice in the heart of Fremantle at St John's Church. The exact time of the summer solstice is 6.44pm December 21st 2016.

Intention – Sound in the Heart

We invite you to bring an intention to the chapel for this event.. As a turning point in the cycle of our seasons this is a moment with great potency for setting your life’s course. Allow the sound in your heart to be the rudder that guides you and bring that intention to the evening.

This is an alchemical meeting of two players with instruments from opposite polarities of the world. Having known each other from their teenage years, but never having played together, Sophie and Si had their first musical meeting earlier this year. It was an extraordinarily moment where the music flowed like a river, and sang like the sea. Transcending the notes and history of the traditions of their instruments, their music reaches into deeper realms of the human experience and explores the polarities of movement and stillness, man and woman, the dark and the light.

Furthermore the Mullumby siblings collaborate for the first time (in their lives ever haha). Si's sister Jaya Mullumby weaves story into the creation of this space to explore the mystery and ponder the greater realities of the movement of celestial bodies.
